Rockgeist 52HZ Welded Waterproof Frame Bags
We all love frame bags. It's true. Yet, I think we can agree that none of them are as waterproof as we would like them to be. While that is fine for most adventures and especially if you like to pack your water in your frame bag, sometimes we just want something truly waterproof. Rockgeist has developed the first mass manufactured, truly waterproof frame bags, thanks to their unique welded and roll top construction. Huh???? Keep reading to get the whole story.
How they made it truly waterproof.
There are a couple of major weak points in most, if not all, bikepacking frame bags. I'm talking of course about zippers and seams. These are necessary evils on frame bags. How else would you access your goodies without a zipper and how on earth would they put the bag together without seams! Well, you incredulous reader, let me explain!
Rolltop construction is usually seen on backpacks but Rockgeist has ingeniously incorporated this design into a frame bag. The bag rolls shut on itsel and seals shut with two large compression straps and buckles. You'll find a stiff laminate that creates a nice waterproof barrier on the top of the bag an then you roll the whole ting shut. It works like magic. To remove seams from the equation the bag is welded together using Radio Frequency technology. It's all pretty spectacular and makes for a completely waterproof bag. This is awesome for things like electronics, clothing, or anything else that you truly don't want to get wet.

Is there a downside?
The system is not perfect though it is pretty close. If you're used to storing things like snacks or other items that you want quick access to while on the go, you're going to need to rethink your strategy. While it's feasible that you could get into the bag while on the move on smooth pavement that option goes out the window when you need two hands on the bars. The roll top closure is super simple and secure but it is best accessed while stationary. Perhaps it just takes your author a bit more time with the bag to get the hang of it but I can't picture closing this bag up while on the move.
